Hi neighbors!
We hope that you and your families are doing well!
By now, you should have seen the notices that have been placed on the doors of every home in the subdivision. It is to alert you of the upcoming parking petition.
We’ve received an overwhelming amount of complaints regarding parking and have tried to work out parking issues within the community by placing flyers on cars, providing notices to all houses, on our website, etc., all to no avail.
Emergency personnel, school buses (which will resume again soon), large vehicles have not been able to get through due to double parking, etc. As a result, we have had to go a bit further and get the assistance of the county which lead us to the following decision:
We’re petitioning for the following: NO OVERNIGHT STREET PARKING; daily. This will be from 12am-7am; no exceptions.
Per the By-laws and Covenants, you are to first park in your garage then additional vehicles are to park in the driveway. If you have guests, they are to park on the street temporarily while visiting. Most driveways will accommodate 4 vehicles where some will accommodate more. Some people have been parking in the middle of the street, double parking, blocking neighbors’ mailboxes, blocking driveways, etc., even after being notified.
Crest Ridge HOA structured the current Bylaws, Covenants and Rules and Regulations around Cobb County’s guidelines. You can view more information by clicking here.
What do we need from you? We need the signatures of VERIFYABLE HOMEOWNERS – ONLY! No tenants can sign so please alert your landlord of the petition because the signature must be a verifiable homeowner’s signature. This is a petition from Cobb County DOT and not from the HOA. They did stress that they will indeed verify the information and if proven to be falsified, it will count as a “NO”.
To what are you saying “yes”? You are agreeing to “NO OVERNIGHT STREET PARKING, DAILY (12am-7am)”.
Some of you have already asked about overnight guests from out of town, etc., Unfortunately, we are not going to be able to accommodate everyone. We have definitely tried to work with everyone but some people have not been following the rules that were in place.
What if I don’t sign the petition? We need EIGHTY-SIX (86) verifiable homeowner signatures in order for the petition to pass. If you do not sign, your vote will be counted as a “NO” vote. We will notify the homeowners via this website of the schedule. We will start as early as this weekend (9/26/2020) collecting signatures. If you are not listed on the property deed, please do not sign as this will count as a “NO” vote.
If that fails to get the required number of signatures, then it will be NO STREET PARKING 24/7 (including family gatherings, etc.) as recommended by the Cobb County Fire Marshal. We would like to have some control over street parking so we really need all homeowner’s to sign. If the homeowner lives out of town, please have them to reach out to us as we have a different way to get their vote electronically.
All parking violations will be enforced by Cobb County Law Enforcement.
